Drone Videography Prices & How They Work

What are some common drone videography prices out there?

 Videography Pricing

Drone Videography Service Pricing and Costs. While this is a very good question, it is a very general one.  There are many factors that could affect drone videography prices.  Factors such as; types of drones utilized, complexity of the shoot, property insurance (for drones), drone insurance, current market demand, location, etc.

Lets say for example, that you are hiring a Drone Surveillance Service team to shoot 3 minutes of video footage of a property somewhere in California and would like to know what the drone videography prices would be.

Hypothetical costs associated with this scenario are outlined below.
  1. FAA Licensing. $5 Cost (Usually not a significant expense on the behalf of the company, so with all likelihood this would not be included).
  2. Drone Insurance ($600-800/year). The Drone Surveillance Service company will most likely factor this insurance cost into their quote.  Lets say that a charge of $50 is added to cover the drone insurance.
  3. Current Market Demand.  At the time of this article, currently there isn’t a huge number of companies offering drone videography out there.  With this being so, the price of doing a shoot like this could cost quite a bit.
  4. Location (California), combined with the current market demand, could easily fetch a drone videography price for a 1 to 3 minute shoot between $2,000 to $4,000.  Again, without there being adequate competition for this, we are looking at a high cost for this type of service.
  5. Property Insurance. The good news is that most residential and commercial properties carry some type of property damage insurance.  However, in the case that a particular insurance does not offer drone damage protection, additional insurance will need to be purchased (usually under the request of the company that will be doing the footage shooting).
  6. All in all, a realistic amount that one could expect to pay with this type of service could be anywhere between $1,000 all the way up to $5,000+.  Keep in mind that these are just hypothetical numbers, and are only given to give one an idea of a potential cost (actual cost of this type of service could be more or less).
